To remember K Balagopal now is only to remember our own humanness and the conditions under which we struggle for a better life for everyone.
K Balagopal’s role as a civil liberties and democratic rights activist had two phases – the first, when the opening sentence of the Communist Manifesto and Marx’s last thesis on Feuerbach guided his life’s activity, and the second, when, even as he gave up on these precepts, he continued in the tradition of practical humanism.
This was my humble effort for the lengend of India:
ప్రజల మనిషి..హక్కుల నేత.. బాలగోపాల్ అమర్ రహే
ఏడాది క్రితం...
మనిషికి ఒక తోడు పోయింది
మనిషికి ఒక నీడ పోయింది
కన్నీళ్లు తుడిచే స్నేహ హస్తం కను మరుగైంది
ఒక భరోసా గళం మూగ పోయింది
హక్కుల గీతం ఆగిపోయింది
పోరాట దీపం ఆరిపోయింది
విలువల గొంతు మూగపోయింది
రక్తమోడిపే రాజ్యంతో రాజీ పడకుండా
రాజ్య హింసకు, ఉద్యమ హింసకు ఎదురీడి పోరాడిన
ఆజాన బాహుడు మన బాల గోపాలుడు
ప్రజల పక్షపాతి గుండె చప్పుడు ఆగినా
ఆయన ఆశయాలు దేశాలెల్ల మోగెను
మన కలల పంట నేల రాలినా
అది మొలకలెత్తి వేల వేల రాశులవునులె
